As Rwanda gets prepared to commemorate the 23th genocide memorial events to start on 7th April, the youth is urged to actively participate into these upcoming events.

It is observed that most of them do not participate into it as more prefer to remain at home while the adults gather in different areas to hear on how the massacres were carried out in the neighborhoods.

The Never Again Rwanda brought different young people from varying areas of Kigali to discuss on how the 23th genocide memorial events can be attended as to help them learn more about  the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi.

The discussions were about how remembering the genocide against the Tutsi can help people get healed from its psychological wounds and on how the genocidal ideology can be eradicated.

One of the Never Again Rwanda team members who organized the event Mukankubito Immaculée told Umuseke that the gathering intends to mobilize the youth to attend this upcoming national event.

She urged the participants to take these events as their own responsibilities so fight back against the genocidal ideologists.

Mukankubito reminded the youth that Rwanda is a nation of peace and prosperity, adding that this is an added value for them to feel comfortable in  their nation and hinder the genocidal ideologists from spreading their ideas.

The Executive Secretary of the National Unity and Reconciliation Commission Fidel Ndayisaba said that memory helps in learing more about how the genocide against the Tutsi was carried out.

“This allows youth to take measures on how the genocide ideology can be fought back” Ndayisaba said.

Fidel Ndayisaba said that the percentage of 95% of Rwandans affirm that remembering the genocide against the Tutsis helps in healing wounds and prepare the youth to live in a peaceful and prosperous Rwanda,
