The Rwandan foreign affairs Minister Louise Mushikiwabo held a press conference and informed that the AU has appointed President Paul Kagame to reshape the Union’s Commission. According to Minister Mushikiwabo, AU has urged President Kagame to set up mechanisms that will help in setting up renewed budget generating policies as to help the AU become more financially independent.
President Kagame will present the plan to the AU Summit scheduled to take place on January, 2017.
The current plan predicts that each nation will provide a 0.2% of its imports.
Apart from this specific topic, Min Mushikiwabo said that Summit was fruitful due to the friendly and warm hospitality Rwandans have shown to visitors from Africa and abroad.
She underlined that this has praised visitors as some of them have expressed it.
This kind of hospitality and care should more characterize Rwandans in the coming events, she urged.
The last Kigali AU Summit was attended by over 3000 dignitaries including Heads of States, Foreign Affairs ministers, ambassadors and many more.
Another achievement she point out is that Morocco Kingdom has rejoined the Union.
It left it in early 1973 as it contested the recognition of the Sahrawi Republic on a territory that Morocco considers as its own.
