Boys  and gils being the players of the Espoir  BBC have qualified for the trophy after being the champions of the Gisembe Memorial Basketball championship that aims at commemorating the genocide perpetrated against the Tutsis in general bur against the basketball players inn 1994.

Ugandan  Stormens female  team and Burundian Muzinga male team were the ones that played the last matches with Rwandan male and female teams, respectively.

The Rwandan  Berco Stars  composed of young girls won over the Ugandan Giant Stormens  with  67 scores out of 55.

The match between Espoir from Rwanda and Muzinga ended with  the victory of the Espoir with 85 scores out of 48 of Muzinga BBC .

The  Espoir  team was handed with the best team and from its players, was selected the best player namely (MVP) Lionel Hakizimana.

Gisembe was the most skilled basketball player before the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi that took his life too.

He played  in the Espoir Basketball club. He was born in 1961 in Nyamirambo. He was over two meter tall and left tree children and a wife.
