The Transparency International Rwanda Chief, Ingabire Immaculee deplores the situation where people who provide relevant information on corruption still face threats from the mighty leaders or managers involved on such issues.

Even if the situation is not  worse, the rate at which the situation increases puts victims in sad situations whereby some are fired from their jobs or face verbal harassment from their leaders or managers.

Ingabire provided an example of a situation whereby a citizen searches for a help from the Transparency  because of the injustive he/she is facing. As the organisation asks information from a mayor the district, the name of the citizen might be revealed  by the hierarchy of the leaders concerned.

For Ingabire the leaders involved should be punished because, she continues, they discourage the spirit of providing information on corruption related cases.

Another issue that complicates the situation is the fact that some of the local inhabitants support the corrupted leaders through harassing the person who has communicated the information to the due anti corruption bodies.

To fight against this, the Transparency International  has issued a new technology facility that is meant to help information providers on the corruption to do so in safe way, a system  that is called IFATE.
