The long term waited verdict regarding a 1994 genocide suspect has  been proclaimed last night. Simbikangwa will spend 25 years in jail due to his confirmed  participation into the genocide against the Tutsi.

It took 12 hours for the  judges to agree on judgment Simbikangwa has to face. Simbikangwa defended himself saying that he was one of the common people while his accusers vehemently affirmed that Cpt Simbikangwa was one of the leading figures who  planned and executed the genocide against the Tutsi in 1994.

The French court found guilty Capt Simbikangwa for his collaboration with the genocide planners and perpetrators as someone who was influential in the then government.

He has been found guilty of supplying armed munitions to Interahamwe militias who killed innocent Tutsis in 1994.

It is the first time a French court tries a genocide suspect and observers find that this is a starting point of judging Genocide suspects living in France while others find as ended judicial process that should not confuse people.

The Gacaca juridical system has found Simbikangwa as one among the planners  and perpetrators of the 1994 genocide.

Cpt Simbikangwa who is currently physically disabled and uses a wheelchair to move was lived in Kigali , Kiyovu during the Genocide .

He was one of the Presidential guards in the former military forces (Forces Armées Rwandaises). He is influence  has played a big role in sensitizing Hutu militias to kill innocent Tutsis in his neighborhoods.

Pascal Simbikangwa was caught up in Mayottes islands in  2008.

Online social media commentaries have expressed their indignation on the the verdict towards Simbikangwa.
