This new power plant will hopefully produce electric power to serve at least 100 thousand people.  The USA Ambassador to Rwanda and her counterpart from Germany are among officials who laid a stone at the site where the power plant will be built in Musanze district.

In the event was the Rwandan minister of infrastructure James Musoni.

One of the locals named Jotham Nsengiyumva told locals that he is glad to hear that the electric power will help him to charge his devices including mobile phones.

He said that he formerly travelled many kilometers to charge the devices but he is proud of this new project that is meant to reduce his pain.

Other locals including hair cut saloon workers are also grateful to this project.  They say that it will boost business opportunities in the neighborhood.

Rwandan Minister James Musoni thanked the USA and Germany Embassies for the remarkable contribution in the establishment of this infrastructure as it will help locals live better.

He said that this is an added contribution as to accelerate the social and economic transformation that Rwanda undergoes.

Minister Musoni added that the establishment of this infrastructure fits in the economic political lines regarding energy sufficiency to achieve not later than 2020.

This undertaken infrastructure is meant to be completed on July, 2018. Germany has contributed with six million $ while USA contributed with 15 milliion $.
