This announcement was made by the Rwandan Minister in charge of infrastructures Dr Uzziel Ndagijimana when he was addressing the MPs lastly as he clearly explained to them forth coming implementation of the national budget 2028-2019.

Minister Dr Uzziel Ndagijimana

The Minister revealed that the big part of the 190 billion Frw from the above said budget makes the so-called net lending and its bigger part will be invested on air transport infrastructures and services including the ongoing construction of the Bugesera international airport, among others.

The above amount (190 billion Frw) makes 8% of the whole national budget as stated by the Minister.

There is a budget increase on this amount as it was set to 178billion Frw last fiscal year while it is not set to 190 billion Rwandan francs

One of the MPs namely Theobald Mporanyi wondered whether all of these huge investments the government does do really generate income.

Minister Ndagijimana exclusively told Umuseke that the significant investment that Rwanda puts into the Rwandair Company intends to enable it become financially self-sustained in the near future and start generating incomes.

The Rwandair undergoes a transitional phase for its self-reliance. It is currently investing into its operations.  We have to wait for it to generate desired incomes in the near future, Min Ndagijimana said.

He, however, said that the company started producing incomes through promoting tourism.

Minister Uzziel Ndagijimana added that another significant part of the net lending part of the budget 2018-2019 will be invested into the construction and completion of the Bugesera International Airport.

He hopes that operations of that airport will be much more beneficial to Rwandan economy.
