Rwanda is chosen to host an international conference on agriculture improvement, a conference scheduled to take place on January, 2014. It will discuss on how an improved agriculture can be a tool to ensure a sustainable development and food security in Rwanda and across the globe.

The officials of Global Communities, an international NGO present in press conference  that has planned for the next year ‘s conference told journalists that the conference  will be attended by different experts and professionals across the world to discuss on ways and means to set up as to improve  an agriculture that benefits to national economy.

Raphael Rurangwa in charge of economic plan in the Ministry of agriculture said that participants in the conference will debate on how to improve agriculture as to help farmers make more money through such changes.

We will discuss on how agriculture can be enhanced as to be a tool that  improves rural livelihoods and ensure food security to all, he said.

He mentioned some of the challenges agriculture practitioners encounter  including climate changes  that result to poor agricultural production.

During that conference, experts will discuss on how agriculture practitioners can financially grow through having access to bank loans and pay in steps as their businesses will  keep growing, Rurangwa has  said.

Rurangwa added that Rwanda has been chosen to host this conference because of its remarkable advancement on agricultural development.

Participants in the conference scheduled to take place in January next year will exchange insights on how financial institutions can bring their services on rural  areas as to facilitate people living in such  areas have access to finance.

Tony Nsanganira, in charge of operations in RDB said the conference will add on the existing development related objectives that are core parts  of the EDPRS II(Economic Development and  Poverty Reduction Strategies, Phase two) that Rwanda has set up to achieve its  2020 Vision.

We want to involve private sector in the setting of strategies to improve  and to implement as to bring upon a professional agriculture that benefits to its practitioners, said Nsanganira.

For him, the conference will be an ideal opportunity to bring together Africans to debate on how Africa can be developed through putting more efforts on different areas leading to development such as  agriculture and trade.

He mentioned the role of such conference on promoting tourism in Rwanda.

Guests who will attend the conference will return home being our ambassadors as they will witness the economic achievements in different fields including agriculture, added Nsanganira.

The Manager of Global Communities, Mr  Milton Funes revealed that  Rwandan Minister of agriculture, Dr Agnes Karitaba urged him that during the conference they will find time to visit the Rwanda Agricultural Board so to learn more on all agricultural achievements Rwanda has made and all areas that need more investments to improve.

Different international reports rank Rwanda as one of African  countries  that keeps developing in different areas of economic sectors.

However, the agriculture sector remains among the ones that need more investments to develop so to become a leading tool in economic development.
