This Wednesday, The Rwanda Wildlife Conservation Association collected 21 crested cranes from different households and is to deport them to the normal wildlife today in the Akagera National Park.
Authorities told media that this is meant to all the birds enjoy its natural habitat instead of being domesticated and suffer from the lack of freedom they deserve.

Before being packed towards Akagera National Park, the crested cranes were taken care of in the Presidential National Museum in Kanombe, Nyarugunga sector but they are meant to be taken to the park this Thursday.

The 21 crested cranes were chosen among other 33 and were proven to be healthy and fit as to allow them integrate the wildlife.

The Rwanda Wildlife Conservation Association carries out this life saving activity in collaboration with the Rwanda Development Board (RDB).

Dr Olivier Hakizimana who heads the Rwanda Wildlife Conservation Association told Umuseke that the transfer will be done after the birds were diagnostic and were found healthy.

He also media that the former ones transferred to Akagera National Park are healthy and have integrated the wildlife as very nicely.
