The yesterday’s heavy rain that rained in Rutsiro district has caused a house to collapse and it killed a mother and her children who were sleeping last night.
Justine Ikimanimpaye and her children namely Abraham Iradukunda who was 15, Pascal Niyogisubizo who was 11 and Alpha Mujawimana who was one year old passed away.
One of the neighbors called Callixte Ndagije who intervened in the morning told Umuseke that the house where the fate happened was relatively isolated from others.
He said that the ones who intervened found the household members already dead due to the heavy wall that befell upon them and asphyxiated them.
The executive secretary of the Kivumu sector Ladislas Ruzigana revealed that the incident was caused by heavy rain that started earlier especially in areas nearing the Gishwati forest.
The bodies of the dead ones are resting at Gisenyi hospital before being buried by relatives.
The same fate has happened to a family located in Karongi district on April, 18, 2016, killing a mother and her child.
