As IT tools have eased quick access to information, users should be careful. Today rumors that President Kagame has passed away brought many people from Goma to celebrate in the streets. However one official from the Office of the President of the Republic of Rwanda, twitted that H.E Paul Kagame is currently receiving a delegation of students from the Pennsylvania University, school  of Wharton.

Early this morning, a crowd of  youth in Goma demonstrated in the streets celebrating a so-called ‘death’ of our President Paul Kagame.

UM– USEKE  reporter on Rubavu said that local shops closed doors fearing that robbers could take the opportunity to steal their goods.

The rumor also reached different cities in DRC causing a lot of street matching. Young people, men , women  descended in the streets of Goma rejoicing the wrong news.

One of  the photos taken from  Goma is of a UN military track full of people celebrating the rumor.

The mob targeted Rwandans  living in the neighborhood.

The mob was heading to the border between Rwanda and DRC but were stopped by Police and FARDC.

Mayor of Rubavu district Bahame Hassan affirms reports on the harassment on Rwandans but says that he has no specific  number of the Rwandans who faced the threat up to now.

This came in after a twit posted yesterday  on the ‘death’ of H.E Paul Kagame. Even though Twitter quickly informs its users, it is wise to be careful on veracity of the information it shares.
