Joshi Yougeshe Kumar, 60, the manager of Amos Dairies in Kiruhura district woke up Wednesday morning with his passport, laptop plus modem and two mobile phones missing after reportedly spending a night with the two prostitutes.

It is said he had hired them Tuesday night and taken them to his home in Kaliiro B village.

But his version of the incident dismisses accounts that he took prostitutes in.

Keith Thomas Eyaku, the district police commander said Kumar immediately reported a case of housebreaking and theft to the area police, who began pursuing the purported robbers.

Preliminary police investigations indicated that the Indian investor had a tendency of hiring prostitutes in Lyantonde town and failed to pay them after sleeping with them.

Meanwhile, police is making inquiries to identify the suspects and recover the stolen items and a file CRB 320/14 has been opened as investigations continue.

In his statement to police, Kumar said he did not take any prostitute to his place.

However, his co-workers, who did not want to be named for fear of losing their jobs, told New Visionthat different women (prostitutes) had always complained of “Kumar’s ways”.

They said he was fond of taking them in and failing to pay the agreed amount of money after the service.

Meanwhile, Police’s Eyaku said they have launched an undercover operation against prostitutes linked to robbing of their clients in Lyantonde town.

He explained that cases of prostitutes conniving with their pimps and lodge owners to rob their clients have risen in the area.
