The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has expressed indignation  on the way the high persecution authority brings accountable suspects to the  courts.

Muhumuza Richard, the General persecutor was explaining to the commission how far the persecution has reached to bring the suspects to the court, explanations that did not satisfy the commission.

Hon Nkusi Juvenal who heads the Commission expressed his indignation on the delay to persecute the suspects, adding that as time passes suspects change their lives and acquire immunity.

Nkuri asked why a suspect keeps occupying his position while he/she is under investigation. He wondered why it takes such a long time while all proofs are gathered to persecute the suspect.

The persecution‘s side affirms that it did a lot in gathering relevant proofs.  According to it, the persecution process takes time and has to be done carefully.

Muhumuza said that suspects do not provide enough and convincing proofs thus the need of additional and tangible information regarding the cases under investigation.

Muhumuza said that some suspects have been brought to the Prime Minister’s authority to respond to the chargeS upon them.

He informed the Commission that over 25 million Rwandan Francs have been paid back to the public treasury.

He underlined the commitment of the persecution to bringing suspects to justice but advocated for the increase of collaboration between all entities to stop this from wide spreading.

At the end of the hearing, both sides agreed on increase collaboration to eradicating the culture of mismanagement of public goods.
