A big number of the Genocide survivors and friends gathered in Ngoma district, Eatern province to relocated to 18 000 bodies of the Tutsis victims of the Genocide against the Tutsis in 1994 to a new decent burial site. Bodies have been exhume from different sectors namely Kazo, Remera, Rurenge and  Kibungo.

Speakers underlined the character of genocide being that it gets prepared and executed by a government that, afterwards, denies its existence as a means of defying justice

The Mayor of Ngoma district Aphrodis Nambaje said that a burial site like the one in his district is a outspoken witness that the genocide has been committed against the Tutsis and it refutes the deniers’ claims that it has never been executed.

The IBUKA representative in Ngoma distrcit SAMSON Gihana said that the memorial site is a historical tool to defy denial and promote memory on the genocide against the Tutsis.

He, therefore, urged the authorities to accelerate the construction process of the remaining part of the memorial site.

Gihana called upon relevant authorities to renew the houses of the genocide survivors as they went old and spoiled throughout time.

The deputy president of IBUKA at the national level, Egide Nkuranga  condemned the involvemnt of religious organizations in the execution of the genocide, reminding that a true Jesus’ follower loves his neighbor but never kills him.

The CEO of the Natioanl Commission of the Fight against the Genocide(CNLG)Dr Jean Damascene Bizimana underlined the historical facet of the genocide against the Tutsis, saying that it has been planed since the colonial period and its post period until its execution in 1994 by the then government.

The media have been used by the then government as a channel of indoctrination as to radicalize as many people as possible, he added.

The first construction phase of the Ngoma genocide memorial site is worth 115 million Rwandan Francs and its neighboring museum will e set up in few coming months, authorities say.
