The heavy rain that rained yesterday evening in Karongi district has took a local leader’s life and spoiled people’s belongings including fields, houses, and landslides. The leader of Musango cell is the one who lost his life as he was heading home after attending a wedding ceremony that took place in a neighboring cell.
The late leader Damian Zimurinda was walking home alongside his son after attending a wedding ceremony.
The landslide catched them over as they were walking home around 8h30 PM. The son survived but his father and leader Zimurinda lost his life afterwards.
His son is the one who called for a help from the neighboring people. The son is currently undergoing medical care at Musango health center.
The rain started raining early hours in Rwankuba sector. It kept raining and heavily and this created chaos as it destroyed fields, dethroned trees and provoked landslides.
In the Western Province of Rwanda, heavy rains have been creating chaotic scenes whereby 15 people’s lives were taken off, fields spoiled, among other damages.
The most affected districts are Nyamasheke, Karongi, Rutsiro, Nyabihu and Musanze(Northern Province).
