The situation becomes harder during the rainy season where children, elderly and sicky people do not cross the bridge due to floods, thus hindering them from fulfilling their daily activities.

The most affected people are located in Birambo cell ( Gashari sector) and those in Kabuye cell( Rugabano sector as the use of bicycles to trade and communicate  becomes harder than in the rest of the affected areas.

One of the residents named Innocent Ntakirutimana told Umuseke that during the rainy seasons, students do not easily attend school as floods emerge.

The situation affects traders who normally cross the bridge to trade with neighboring areas.

The destruction of this bridge has impacted in much on local trading and communication systems thus decreasing people’s earnings. The Executive Secretary of Gashari sector informed Umuseke that the bridge’s destruction is a threat to locals’ wellbeing.

He, however, added that the local administration has reported the issue to concerned bodies and it is being assessed for further rehabilitation.

One of the reasons that led to the bridge’s destruction is that it has been constructed in 1978.
