The meeting brought together the Kigali city authorities, RDB and different institutions operating in the hospitality sector to find out the policies and the timeline to set up on order to improve  the quality of the services delivered in the sector.

Yves Ngenzi in charge of quality service in RDB blamed hotels and restaurants for  poor services  provided to clients.

As far as service delivery is concerned, statistics keep showing  poor services were and still are provided by the hospitality sector, he said.

He raised the point that poor services in all sectors especially in hospitality negatively impact on the investment and development.

Mugabo John in charge of hygienic conditions in Kigali city using video stream demonstrated to the audience the state of hygiene in different  sampled restaurants and hotels in Kigali.

He warned the concerned business owners to revisit their working habits so to improve. For him, poor hygienic conditions are potentially dangerous to people’s lives. However, improvements have been done in certain hotels such as Chez Lando Hotel in Remera.

Kantengwa Anne Marie, manager in charge of hygienic quality at Chez Lando Hotel told the gathering that her hotel has done much in improving hygiene.

For her hygienic conditions in hotels prove to international travelers that Rwanda has high ranking hygienic good conditions. If it is not the case therefore the nation’s reputation becomes undermined, she adds.
