This is one of the six cities Rwandan government has chosen as sister cities of Kigali capital city. It is both an entertainment and business hub that attracts people from both Rwanda and DRC.
The city is is located in Rubavu district, Western Province. The city comprises of hotels, beaches, airports, stadium, nightclubs, bars, restaurants and more attractive sites that every willing and able person should visit.
In the first sight, one sees the Gisenyi mount that is conserved through the cooperation between the Rwanda Development Board(RDB), Rwanda Environment Management Authority(REMA) and local cooperatives.
One of the locals who fully knows the history of the area says that before making the mount more attractive, not less that 1 222 families have been relocated elsewhere as to be able to plant more trees.
Those families were relocated in the Karugogo and Kanengo areas and there they are safe and prosperous.
At that area th Germans fought with Belgians during the World War I.
The mount hosts different flowers from different natures and this attracts bees and birds for food.
Miss Rwanda 2016 Mutesi Jolly visited the city and enjoyed all of the above mentioned areas and beauties.
