As he is in an official visit in Gakenke district in the Northern Province, the Head of State, Paul Kagame told leaders who composed the delegation that accompanied him including ministers that serving citizens is their first and foremost duty.

President Kagame criticized the fact that some of the Ministers are not accomplishing the duties that are meant to benefit to Rwandans.

He promised that he will monitor the progress of projects that have been agreed upon to fulfill in more than five past years.

As the vice mayor in charge of economic affairs in Gakenke districts informed the Head of State that in his district, there are some infrastructures such as roads and health centers that still need to be accomplished.

Regarding these issues, President Kagame asked the ministers who were with him whether they have been monitoring the accomplishment of these projects.

Most of them said that these projects were fulfilled at some extent but more still needs to be done to make the entire projects fully accomplished.

President Kagame promised close monitoring activities upon the completion of these activities.

Among the projects that President Kagame said should have been fully accomplished include the Gatonde hospital that its construction started in 1999.

Feeder roads were also part of the projects that are not yet accomplished since many years ago.

He criticized the fact that local leaders attempt to accomplish some of the projects once they knew the President of the Republic will visit their respective administrative areas.

President Kagame warned the ones who are slow at fulfilling their duties that he will not tolerate such negligence.

For him, none should be claim that he/she lacks financial or logistic means to fulfill the duties entrusted to him/her.

The ones who mismanage people’s goods will not be tolerated, President Kagame warned them.

President Kagame advised locals, government based bodies and private ones to work closely as  to help locals increase their agriculture production.

He added that the research in this regard should be improved and help Rwandans in general and Gakenke dwellers produce more.

According to the vice mayor in charge of economic affairs Deogratias Nzamwita said that Gakenke district is inhabited by 338 234 whose the main economic activities are agriculture and animal husbandry.

Deogratias Nzamwita informed to the Head of State that locals have achieved remarkably in diverse angles of the lives as they are better secured than before.

He said that due to the willingness and the effective leadership of His Excellency Paul Kagame and the collaboration with locals, over 15% of households are equipped with electric installations.
