Alphonse Bahati a Rwandan gospel artist told to UM– USEKE his wishes that the innocent workers of BRALIRWA killied by Abacengezi in January, 1998 should be recognized as heroes because they refused to separate themselves as Hutu or Tutsi when they were forced to do so.
Before being killed, the workers were travelling in a car and were arrested by the Abacengezi. The later ones asked the workers to separate themselves according to their ethnic groups and they refused.
The Abacengezi obliged the workers that the Hutu should get out the car and Tutsi remained in the car.
The workers refused to separate themselves and were all burned in the car. For Bahati Alphonse the dead workers are worthy to recognized as workers.
Bahati said that the Ndi Umunyarwanda spirit was in those Rwandans’ hearts because they had a common understanding of being a real Rwandans.
The death of those innocent workers is likened to the death of the Nyange students who were shot to death after denying to separate themselves.
Currently the National commission for the national heroes urged Rwandans to be active in naming people they consider worthy to be recognize as national heroes.
The artist uttered these words during a ceremony of receiving the Frame of remembrance that took place at Rubavu.
The Ndi Umunyarwanda Program is a program that is meant to strengthen the brotherhood among Rwandans.
The genocide ideology divided Rwandans and led to 1994 the genocide against the Tutsi but the Ndi Umunyarwanda program intends to strongly unite Rwandans as brothers who share a common historical and genetic backgrounds.
