This situation causes a lot of pain and disappointment to those elders who lost their beloved ones during the Genocide perpetrated against the Tutsi in 1994.

The elders expressed these challenges during a commemoration event that took place in the Kibarinka  area to help them commemorate  their beloved ones who lost their lives in the 1994 genocide.

The Kiberinka neighborhood hosts both widows and orphans of the  1994 genocide against the Tutsi .

The elders who remained alone gathered in the area to commemorate their beloved ones are their physical abililites have collopsed and are unable to participate into usual commemoration activities that other Rwandans carry out countrywide.

The Kiberinka area hosts over 682 genocide survivors grouped into 136 households.

Charles Nkoronko one of the elders told UM– USEKE that the  support tha the government keeps providing to them has been of a great aid to them to reach an improved living style and befit the current sociol and economic advancement of all Rwandans.

If you compare our past and the current  development, 20  years after, one comes up with a remarckable and tangible hope for a better and everlasting future, elder Nkoronko said.

The leader of the Kiberinka cell, Sakindi Jean Baptsite said that even of most of the dwellers of the Kiberinka cell have been psychologically wounded, they have believe in a better future full of achievements.

The phyically able ones have been trained in different vocational professions as to help them face the daily challenges and become self reliant, he said.

Nevertheless, Sakindi said that the elders face challenges related to the lack of the jobs as to gain money.

The elders living in the Kiberinka cell were able bodied men in 1994 as the genocide was being carried out by the then governement.
