A street trader with an uncanny resemblance to Kim Jong-un has found himself inundated with customers ever since snaps of him appeared in a local paper highlighting his resemblance with the North Korean leader.

Manchu Tuan said he had never particularly noticed until one of his customers had asked if he could take a snap with him because of the resemblance.

He said: ‘I told him sure, if you buy a kebab. So he bought two, and that was when I came up with the idea of using my looks as an advertising stunt.

He said that so many people have been asking to have their snap taken with him that he often doesn’t have time to cook the snacks, and has now hired a second person to do the cooking while he poses with people for the novelty snaps in front of the university in Shenyang in north-east China’s Liaoning province.

He added: ‘I am pleased to say that business is really good since word got out about the fact that the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un is now selling kebabs here.

‘The only drawback is that business is non-existent when I’m not here. There is simply no sales by my colleague.’

This week Kim Jong-un’s burning desire to smoke was demonstrated with photos released showing him puffing away on an airfield and sitting next to an ashtray at a shooting range.

If the North Korean leader isn’t smoking in photographs, an ashtray is often in close proximity.

Consideration for others while he smokes is, perhaps unsurprisingly, a low priority, with a photograph released in 2013 showing him smoking in a hospital.
