This Saturday,12,October in Gitwe Sector, a building of Church of the Adventists of the Seventh Day collapsed while adepts were worshiping. Fortunately, the incident did not kill a person.
The youth from the Jeunesse Adventiste was gathered in in the Church order to prepare for a concert during the time when the wall of the church collapsed.
This new church that collapsed after the church decided to destroy the former one that was too old to be used.
Christians mourn the destruction of the the former church that was built in 1924, being the only one of the kind allover the former Ruanda-Urundi and Congo territory of the former Belgium colonial power.
One of the adherents of the church told Umuseke that the church leaders are unwilling to cooperate with Christians in order to discuss on what is needed to build the new worshiping rooms.
They instead keep talking on the necessity on destroying the former church something they find unfair, says a Christian whose name is not revealed for his own interest .
Nahayo Faustin, one the constructors of the building , affirms that the reason why the building keeps on collapsing is rooted in fake way the construction is being carried out through mixing cement, water, sand and bricks.
He said: “The fake way this mixture is done causes the building not to stand strong”.
Numbers show that the completion of the church will require 100 Million of Rwandan Francs but as the church has collapsed twice cost required augments.
The money to construct this church was supposed to be provided by willing Christians but currently the available amount does not exceed 400,000 Rwandan francs.
According people keep wondering whether the completion of the building will be achieved in near future.
