During the closing ceremony of the Ingando camps attended by secondary school students known as Intore, this Saturday 15, H.E Paul Kagame made clear that the Ubudehe needs some adjustments in order to be fairer.

H.E President Paul Kagame

Normally, the Ubudehe is a means by which the government chooses whose students are more unable to pay from themselves universities studies fees.

Recently the Ministry of Education has made public that University students will be contributing to the payment of the fees required for their studies through the Ubudehe categorization.

However this has brought in a hot debate whereby both parents and students claim that the categorization process has not been fair enough.

H.E Paul Kagame revealed to the students who are gathered in the Amahoro national Studium that National Budget is allocated for different  development projects and tasks.

“The national budget cannot cover everything, projects are always numerous than available budget, thus we allocate it accordingly” said H.E Paul Kagame.

For the President, ‘if some mistakes have been made during the selecting of the needy students, some adjustments should be made to revisit the selection process to be fairer enough’

Concerning students who fed in Uganda claiming that the education in Rwanda does not take them into account, H.E said that “these students were thieves who stole the examination papers and then fled. This is something that should be banned”

In his closing remarks, H.E urged students to cultivate the spirit of self-reliance and patriotism so to contribute to the education progress.

It is shameful to have such students who cheat on examination papers and fled the country. They dishonor our education system”  concluded H.E Paul Kagame to students.

Let us remind your that the Intore are students who qualified to join universities to the coming academic year. They attend the Ingando in order to get nourished in Rwandan civic education and philosophy.
