Tuesday, 15, September, the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria has rejected the wishes of the “Consortium for Refugees and Migrants in South Africa” (CoRMSA) to reject the refugee status of Kayumba Nyamasa who exercised as Rwanda Army Chief Commander.

The CoRMSA claimed that Kayumba was not to be given such refugee status due to his alleged war crimes.

Consortium for Refugees and Migrants in South Africa” reminded the court that the Kayumba is should not be allowed to remain in South Africa as a refugee due to the crimes he committed.

The representatives of the Pretoria state refuted the claims of CoRMSA, adding the former general could be mistreated once back home in Rwanda.

They added that the accusations according which Kayumba committed war crimes are baseless and therefore should be removed.

Representatives of Pretoria state added that Kayumba is a vulnerable migrant to be protected.
Kayumba Nyamwasa himself pledged innocent about the accusations according which he committed war crimes as indicted by France and Spain.

The Court ruling the court concluded that that the wishes of the CoRMSA are useless and, therefore that Nyamwasa should be granted a refugee status.
