Rwandan youth studying in Foreign Universities with Rwandan Diaspora participated into the Umuganda  gathered  in joint activities to clean up the Kigali Memorial Center at Gisozi during the Umuganda community work that took place Saturday.

The activities aimed at cleaning  the yard of the  Center  and its public squares.The Youth honored the Tutsi killed during the 1994 genocide.

The representative of the UN youth working  in Kigali,Arielle Gahigi told Umuseke that the Umuganda is a  good opportunity for the Youth to exchange ideas on the issues pertaining to  national life.

For her,Umuganda provides an opportunity to talk about our History so to build our nation that has been destroyed by  throughout History.

Tefera Theogene Sindikubwabo studying in Kenya told Umuseke that for him Umuganda is an enjoyable experience. He says the youth who does not participate into the Umuganda should be shameful as to not contribute to the social and economic development of the nation.

For Kate Kallen ,a foreign young  person living in Rwanda appreciated how the Umuganda is planed  and done.She appreciates the initiative to clean up the Kigali Memorial Center as a site that honors innocent Tutsi killed in 1994.

“We live in Rwanda, a clean country with a clean capital city. We should strive to keep it cleaner” she added.

Mr Nkuranga Alphonse,Manager of National Youth Council said that Umuganda prepared young people to be effective leaders i n the coming years as it helps them to nurture collaboration spirit.

He urged the youth living in foreign universities to  keep on being exemplary students who strive to excel.

“Most importantly,you have to uphold  the spirit of patriotism that characterizes Rwandans” Mr Nkuranga urged the youth.
