The Rwanda National Police has paraded 12 female Burundians it rescued from being trafficked via Rwanda. They were rescued when crossing the Akanyaru River towards Rwanda before taking a plane towards Asian nations for trafficking.

Most of them are female

These nations include Oman, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

Some of them who spoke to media showcased their inner gratitude towards the RNP for its rescue activities.

They claim that traffickers promised them to receive decent jobs in Asian nations but they, afterwards unveiled their duty motives to traffic them in Asian continent.

Most of them are female apart from one male. The youngest is female who is  21 years old.

Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Lynder Nkuranga told reporters that the suspects were arrested when trying to bypass the Rwanda-Burundi border.

They headed to Rwanda with someone who was supposed to bring to a man ready to transit them to Uganda before arriving in Kenya.

Frm Kenya they were to be taken to one of the Asian nations highlighted above.

 

CSP Nkuranga said that the RNP officers were cautious about them status and urged them to openly confess their inner motives.

The RNP finally unveiled their motives before jailing them for further juridical steps.

CSP Nkuranga said that the information that helped in catching the suspects were shared between different actors.

The trafickers deceive their preys with promises of decent jobs once arrived in far away nations.

The reality however is different as most of the victims become sex workers in nations where they could not get adequate help.
