The Nyamirambo court has found guilty the girl, who remains in her minor age, to have willingly injured her teacher. The incident took place at Saint Andre Nyamirambo in August, 25, 2015. Her verdict was removed but the fee must be paid by her family.

Due to her tender age, the court reduced her sentence, which was set to two years and a fee of two hundred thousand Rwf, to one year and fifth thousand Rwf Francs.

However, the verdict was suspended but her family was urged to pay the fee of fifty thousand Rwandan francs.

Some of the reasons that led to the court’s decision relate to the fact that the teenager underwent hardship childhood, family poor education and the fact that it’s her first involvement in such an illegal act.

The prosecution has 30 days to appeal against the court’s verdict.

The teenager who studied at one of Nyamirambo based secondary schools is accused to have brought a machete in a classroom and used that traditional weapon to injure her teacher for yet to-be-identified reasons.

Both the teacher and the teenager were not present in the court and the court declared its verdict in their absence.
