Appointed manager of Rayon Sports Luc Eymael has been chosen to lead  the Rwandan team  during its preliminary Champions League on Sunday on the playground of the AC Leopards Dolisie. Before the big event, the Belgian coach went through an interview with Footafrica365.fr to which he revealed his upcoming projects.

F.A (footafrica365.fr)Luc, you inspire AC Leopards Dolisie ?

L.E: This is a reference, a club won the Confederations Cup in 2012, the quarter-finals of the Champions League in 2013 and only lose the last match for the runner-up in the semifinals.

The team therefore inspires me respect, but not fear. Of course, I already watched the team playing . It has in its membership a few players I know well as Romaric Ngombe , Ntela Tychicus , my former players in V Club. I also know Romaric Lignanzi , the Central African, I also know that they have transferred a Nigerian international from Mali .

They already have a good cohesion and mutual complicity if reference is taken from their previous campaigns.

However you still have the advantage to move first …Right ?

If you want , yes , as long as we do over there a correct result, the important thing would be to score more goals . But the task does not look simple. Rayon Sports did not played in the Champions League for many years ago.

Financially , it is not boxing in the same category. But I hope that our preparation work will bear fruits and that my players will resist pressure from the Congolese public.

F.A: How did you find your team, did you communicate with your predecessor Didier Gomes ?

L.E:No, I did not  make any  contact with him  because of the lack of time. I was busy with long negotiations for my contract. I also wanted to show leaders what was my working philosophy  because I ‘m not in my first African club. But I  respect my predecessor for the work done.

I think my vision is certainly different from his, I came , I watched and then I made my idea.

F.A: A word about the Rwandan football supporters? Do you feel a strong but demanding popular expectation ?

L.E: Rayon Sports is the only team in Rwanda to have so many fans. And it is super motivating. Sunday we played 45 minutes in Nyanza , and there were at least 15,000 fans at the stadium.  After the victory , even in the streets of this city was crowded of fans  with  jubilation around.

That said, I think R.S  is unfortunately far from being the richest squad in Rwanda. It would have to develop a marketing club cell to collect a lot of money from the general public. So we did  what we could as with our  limited means at hand . There is still much work to do as to make this a bit more professional club.

F.A: You have signed up a contract for six months. What are your upcoming projects to uphold your performance and fame?

L.E:  I am committed to achieve a new edition of the title or a trophy in the championship  to continue the adventure. there are a lot of young players that  will helped me achieve my goals.

I and my team are committed to remain champions throughout the Champions League. Personally, I have a right to ” buyout ” and can therefore leave the club when I want a sum of money.

But I will do everything possible to please the committee, players and all the Rayon sport family.
