Maize farmers from Kayonza district are claiming that the year’ harvest will not be sold to markets as it is relatively huge. For them, there is a need of market and clients as to sell their products because of they lack such facilities, the production will get spoiled. The overproduction of the maize has created a situation whereby one kilogram is worthy 100 Rwf.

At the other hand, local administration denies these statement, pointing that there are enough buyers even though they started buying relatively late.

One of the concerns of the locals is that there financial inputs in the farming activities will not be recovered.

Rwakana J.Bosco, who shares the views with locals, said that one of the discouragements facing locals is the loss attacked to the use of modern fertilizers.

He called the governmental entities linked to agricultural issues to come into help to them and solve the problem in a long lasting way.

Another strategy to effectively manage this overproduction is to put it in different granaries dispatched in their households.
