The Africa’s queen of comedy, Anne Kansiime, shone at the recently concluded Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) YouTube awards in Johannesburg, South Africa. The ceremony was hosted by Google.
She won comedy YouTube SSA Creator Award as well as the award of being the top subscribed creator in Uganda.
She confirmed the news on her social media account, twitter: “Anne is top subscribed creator in Uganda and the best YouTube creators in Sub- Saharan Africa.”
Nominees were chosen based solely on subscriber numbers. Users had to have a minimum of 50,000 subscribers to qualify and be based and currently residing in one of eight launched countries in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA).
The eight countries in SSA are Tanzania, Ghana, Uganda, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Nigeria, and Senegal. There were over 70 YouTube channels launched in the above countries whose reach was over 100,000 subscribers. In total, 25 awards in 23 categories were given out.
