This is what a Congolese soldier who has been arrested by RDF has told media after being released to his Commanders.
Adjutant Jean Mubere Utubi was arrested by the Rwandan soldiers after illegally entering the Rwandan soil few days ago.
With a smiling face, he revealed to the press that he was given food three times a day and treated well.
He appreciated how RDF treated him, considering this as an unusual treatment where a soldier who crossed other country’s borders receive a meal three times a day.
This soldier was handled to the Joint Verification Mechanism representatives before being taken back home.
This soldier is from the 322 battalion. He is a native of Bunia in DRC and said he entered Rwanda because he was not aware of the exact borders between both nations.
He was arrested on 09 March in Buhaza sector, Byahi Cell, in Rubavu District.
He is the 14 Congolese soldier to have been arrested at the Rwandan soil illegally due to the poor knowledge of the borders between both nations. To this other hand, there is no Rwandan soldier who have been arrested in the DRC soil due to the ignorance of the exact borders of the neighboring nations.
Col Jacques Asambo who heads the JMV staff urged the DRC military officials to teach DRC soldiers essentials of the geographical map of the DRC especially because this mistake is frequently made by DRC’s army.
