At the Supreme Court Office located in Kimihurura, different discussants pointed out that the corruption is serious issue to fight against in Rwandan Justice System according to statistics.
Firstly Prof Samu Rugege, the President of the Supreme Court of Justice highlighted the fact that statistical numbers do not rank Rwanda as a highly corrupted nation.
Prof Rugege said that Rwanda brought together different efforts to fight against it through different mechanisms such as chasing away judges who were proven to be corrupted .Eight judges were chased away since 2005 up to 2013.
He pointed that this is done through a careful analysis of how different juridical cases are handled and finding out whether the judgment decisions are respected and implemented the way they should be.
Prof Rugege said that people who will be caught involved in corruption issues will be suspended in their activities and their names will be brought to the Ombudsman Office for their names to be made public.
However the Supreme Court President acknowledges the fact that the statistics show that the number of public servants being involved in the corruption have significantly reduced.
Despite that,Prof Rugege said that there still some challenges relating to people who do not agree on the Court’ decisions ,something that creates conflicting relations between them and accuse the court to have been partial.
