The application called Office Maintenance and Automation ( OMA) is able to provide to the employers all needed information regarding their workers’ daily hobbies at workplace.

This will be of a great help to both sides (employers and employees) to perform in a way that increases the company’s outcomes, the WEC representatives told participants.

Dr Rusagara Innocent who leads WEC said that: “the application is a good tool for company managers who are eager to closely assess how workers perform and he/she can do so regardless of the geographical location.”

The representative of the WDA in the launching ceremony of the application, Byabaga Livingston, revealed to media that the organization he stands for provided 26 million Rwandan francs to help in the implementation of the project.

Dr Rusagara thanked the financial support provided by the WDA as it helped them in purchasing and installation of the application.

The vice mayor of the Bugesera district named Uwiragiye Priscilla expressed her application about the availability of the application, adding that the fact that it was launched in Bugesera district indicates that the district will be a hub of technology and its related applications in the near future.

The application can be installed in laptops and in cell phones to help users keep tracking and assessing their workers’ effectiveness and integrity.

However, some of the workers revealed to Umuseke that the application can be used as tool to spy on them and even in situations where workers need break for a recovery.

One of the workers informed us that some employers can use the application as tool to intimidate their employees.

Wrongly motivated employers can exercise intense fear into their workers’ hearts due to constant surveillance upon their workers, some of them told Umuseke.rw.

As the application to be as effective as intended, workers wish that the government could moderate the surveillance and, consequently, provide well defined guidelines to employers to hinder them from abusing their powers.

The ones willing to learn on how the application works can undergo lessons on a online learning center called World E-Learning.
