Rwandan Parliament has done a lot but still a lot remains to be done ahead

Yesterday, The outgoing National Assembly revealed to reporters that during its term, different laws regulating national life have been set up, at the rate of 96,6%  but  that huge work is ahead.

Assembly Representatives.

The outgoing assembly has voted 349 laws, among which 312 have been set up by political parties making the assembly, 13 were still under study and 24 ones were approved.

Some law projects were returned back to the government as the Assembly did find them unnecessary to be studied.

Rose Mukantabana,The Spokesperson of the Assembly ,told journalists that the outgoing Assembly approached the local population as to find out its concerns. For her all that Rwanda has achieved is closely linked to law that the national assembly has set up.

Rose Mukantabana.

She expressed her appreciation about the cooperation between parliamentarians and local population especially during the Umuganda, in different public lectures they representatives deliver in Universities, public squares or elsewhere.

The Radio Inteko was also a means to increase the House’s availability to the population.

The House has received 324 claims from the population,22 brought up by representatives,302 have been brought by the citizens themselves .The remaining concerns will be handled over to upcoming new parliament said Mukantabana.

The House has studied different reports from special commissions set up to study specific issues that link to people lives.

However the House has faced different challenges relating to the huge number of the projects to study, to change the understanding of the population about the role that the House plays in the solving of their concerns as they consider them as ineffective.

Among other challenges the house faced includes a lack of adequate library to keep the records safe and the rehabilitation of the building of the House.

The outgoing Assembly was elected in 2008 and its mandate expired this ongoing week.
