Rwanda ranked 11th among SDGs best achievers worldwide

Officials from the Sustainable development Goals informed media practitioners and other stakeholders in development that Rwanda is ranked number 11^th in achieving the SDGs as compared to the rest of countries in this course.

The SDGs covers the period from 2015 to 2030 and comprise of different social and economic spheres such as poverty reduction, Zero hunger, Good health and well-being. Quality education, gender equality, clean water and Sanitation, affordable and clean energy, among others.

The SDGs Africa region monitor said that Rwanda has done a lot in achieving the above mentioned goals but, it still needs to provide more efforts to achieve more in the coming years.

The today’s report highlights that African nations are lagging behind in achieving these goals as compared to Asian nations.

The SDGs chief monitor in Africa, Dr. Belay Begashaw said that Africa still needs to strive in order to achieve the goals.

Most of African nations are in ‘red color’, meaning its poor performance.

Rwanda is ranked 11^th in Africa with 57 marks. It is among the best achievers in Eastern and Southern African nations.

The CEO of National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda Yusuf Murangwa said that Rwanda has a relatively good performance, taking in account its historical background.
