Rwanda peacekeepers build schools in South Sudan

Rwanda Defence Forces serving in the UNMISS (Rwanbat2) and local community of Tambura have built a new primary school of four classrooms at KINIA The school was inaugurated on 11 February 2014 by Governor of West Equatorial State, Hon. Bangasi Joseph.

Hon. Bangasi Joseph Bakasoro hailed Rwanda Peacekeepers serving in United Nations Mission in South Sudan for building more class rooms for Tambura local community in South Sudan. He also hailed the contribution to Rwanda for lasting peace in South Sudan and elsewhere on the continent.

“Rwanda peacekeepers wish a brighter future for our children, good life, development and much more”, he said while thanking the Peacekeepers. “I would have given you a cow, unfortunately I don’t have one, and words cannot express the gratitude I feel when I think about what you have done, but just to say thank you”.

The inauguration of the school was followed by the routine medal parade award for Rwanda Peacekeepers (Rwanbatt2) who have served in UNMISS for 9 months.

While awarding UNMISS medal to Rwanda Peacekeepers, the Governor Hon. Bangasi Joseph Bakasoro praised the Peacekeepers for their professionalism, discipline and commitment in Peacekeeping Missions, “As a former military officer, your uniforms make me proud, I wish I could visit your country of origin, Rwanda; it can give me more inspiration”, expressed Governor Bangasi Joseph Bakasoro.

Rwanda Contingent Commander in UNMISS, Col DB Ngarambe on the other hand thanked the local community for continued collaboration and brotherhood between the Rwanda contingent and South Sudanese, “working together is our way forward”, he concluded.
