My brother and local authorities took hold of my land- J.Habiyaremye

Jacques Habiyaremye from Musezero cell, Gisozi Sector in Gasabo District told UM– USEKE that his elder brother Samvura Jean de Dieu sold his land without his agreement. He adds that his brother told him that the land was a state property.

Habiyarenye Jacques

Our elder brother sold the land that we share as brother for an amount of over  one million Rwf without our permission, said Habiyaremye.

The land that he is advocating for is located in between the one of his elder brother Samvura Jean de Dieu and the one of his other brother whose’s land is not sold yet.

He wonders why the public services took hold of his land but did not  take the land of his border that nears his land.

Samvura Jean de Dieu the elder border of Habiyaremye told UM– USEKE reporter that the disputed land is under the responsibility of the state thus he cannot sell such a land that is not his own.

Samvura defends his  position saying that he sold the land that was his property and that land now is a state property.

I saw people coming to plant trees in the land. They told me that they were sent by the public authorities, he told UM– USEKE.

However, the UM– USEKE reporter did not find  a significant forest in the land that Samvura mentioned.

Small fruits trees like avocado trees, cassava and banana plantations are the only trees in the land Samvura was talking about.

Sibomana Charles who bought the land said that he never bought a land of Samvura but he was given the land by public institutions.

Asked  which institutions has officially allowed him to take hold of the land , he did not provide a relevant answer.

The Executive secretary of the Musezero cell, Niyibizi Jean Marie Vianney  told UM– USEKE that Habiyaremye keeps engaging in a case that is irrelevant .

We closed the case and Habiyaremye is mistaken. We realized that the land belongs to the state. It seems as if Mr Habiyaremye wants to get hold of the land again, Niyibizi JMV concluded.

This is the land colored in black that created disputes between brothers
This is a road that leads to the land
This is the area where Sibomana has built a house in the neighborhoods of the land
In the land only cassava and banana plantations are planted. No significant forest
One of the houses over there is of one of Habiyaremye’ brothers
The place in front of the house is the disputed one
