Kigali: President Kagame urged the EALA

President Kagame urged the EALA members gathered in Kigali to work together for a common goal. He informed that Rwandans have adopted the use of Kiswayili as an official language that is meant to bring all Eastern Africans together.

Rwanda’s commitment to the Eastern African community is stronger than ever. The progress of the EAC is a product of the will of citizens and communication has become more affordable and convenient, President Kagame told his audience.

He commended the work done by the EA legislative Assembly members in adopting laws that enhance the wellbeing of regional citizens.

He said that the Eastern  Africans are more connected and communicate more effectively than ever before.

President Kagame said Rwanda is proud to have adopted the Kiswahili as an official language as one of the key resolutions highlighted by the Eastern African Legislative Assembly.

He said that adopting that language is a logical move that brings Rwandans closer other Easter Africans.

More and more Rwandans are using Kiswahili and it is being introduced in Rwandan schools, he said.

President Kagame updated the gathering on a recently adopted decision on the completion of the institutional reform of the African Union.

He told them that the adopted reforms will help Africa to sustainablely finance itself from its own resources.

We urgently need an African Union that has a common voice that clearly communicates its aspirations and positions of Africa, President Kagame said.

He underlined the fact that all of this will enhance the development and cohesion of the EAC as whole for a common purpose.

The Eastern African Legislative Assembly members will be assessing laws related to environment, reproductive health and gender balance.
