I will bring my problem to Justice as Ruhango District denies me justice-Munyaneza Melard.

He is a Ruhango District inhabitant who says that local authorities have hindered him from presenting his problem to President Kagame,a problem that is related to land compensation.

He chooses to bring his matter justice in Muhanga District Court.

The Munyaneza issue has started to be serious in 2005 when the District authorites took hi land properties. They destroyed forest plantations and set in it a market without adequate compassion.

When he stood up to present his problem the Muhanga district officials assured him that the matter will be handled effectively and very son but until now they seem careless about providing needed solutions.

In an open letter to Kabagali District of November ,10,2006,Melard defined his concerns to District authorities and clearly described issues he was requested to do. He demanded for compensation  fees relative to his destroyed forest.

“Despite all of these efforts the District authorities did not  provide answer to my request” explained Melard.

In 2009,President Kagame visited the Rugango District. Mr Melard came to present his problems to H.E but local authorities denied him access to him as he says:

He is confident that this issue will be handled fairly

When I was at the queue to present my problem to H.E ,local authorities, through one of them told me that it was not the right time to present my request  as it was under process to be handled” Munyaneza told Umuseke.

One week after, the District authorities sent a special committee to learn about the total value of the forest and estimated it was worthy 100 M Rwandan Francs.

What is sad is that the numbers of this committee were rejected by the district authorities.

Furthermore the District said the value of the land was nearing 2,945,301(Two Million, Nine hundred and fourth five thousand, three hundred and ten Rwandan Francs.

This is very far from the real financial value of the land as Mr Munyaneza affirms.

For Munyaneza this issue will be brought to justice and is ready to fight for his rights until the matter is handled fairly.

He regrets to have been misled by his authorities who might have treated him respectfully.
