Goma: Julien Paluku name graved in a Goma street

This street is among the recently innovated streets  in Goma city, Northern Province of DRC. Local dwellers shared photos of a street nicknamed Julien Paluku, the Governor of the Northern Province.

The naming of the street brought a  controversial debate among people living in Goma some qualifying it as good thing with others consider the issue as indecent and arrogant.

Governor Paluku has played a crucial role to initiate the construction  project of these streets, news from Goma say.

Julien Paluku told  France24 that he didn’t oblige the street workers to write his name  in the street normally reserved for the pedestrians.

He added that none among Kivu dwellers was taxed for the construction of the street.

It is the construction company that chose to write his name upon the street reserved for pedestrians, Paluku says

The construction company denies any neither involvement nor willingness about the engraving the name of Governor Paluku upon the street.
