According to the Chinese government, it attached great importance to the developmental agenda of the West African country, and would do its maximum best to help it realise its goal.

The Vice Chairman of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, H. E. Ma Biao, made this observation on behalf of the Chinese government during his interaction with the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Ebo Barton-Odro, on yesterday.

Mr. Biao and his entourage were met on arrival at the Kotoka International Airport by Mr. Barton-Odro and five other Members of Parliament (MPs), who belong to the Ghana-China Parliamentary Friendship Association.

He is expected to spend three working days in the country before embarking to his homeland.

Mr. Biao will use his visit to deepen China’s bilateral relationship with Ghana, and also have a feel of the country’s new leadership under President John Dramani Mahama.

On Tuesday, Mr. Biao is expected to visit Parliament, and hold a high level executive meeting with Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur.

In a brief remark, Mr. Barton-Odro, who is the Member of Parliament for Cape Coast North, said he was aware of the numerous assistance the Chinese government had been given to Ghana, and urged that such a relationship “should go on.”

Dr. Yakubu Alhassan, MP for Mion and Chairman of the Ghana-China Parliamentary Friendship Association, in an interview with journalists, said key on the agenda of the Chinese delegation in the country was deepening bilateral relations between Ghana and China.

He said the two countries would use the opportunity that had presented itself to discuss the US$3billion Chinese loan contracted by the Government of Ghana to finance various infrastructure projects, which has since its approval by Parliament in 2011, but not materialized.
