FARG assists Genocide survivors with decent houses

The Fund for the assistance of the needy genocide survivors (FARG in French abbreviation) has assisted some of its beneficiaries in Muhanga district, Shyogwe sector with decent and cleaner houses as to help them accommodate comfortably. Each house is worthy 39 million Rwf.

Four families are meant to live in a department comprising of two separate houses. The facilities will allow families to live decently.

The initiative to build these houses was undertaken by the Muhanga district officials and FARG senior management.

It will hopefully boost economic activities among beneficiaries and allow them to overcome daily harships inherited from genocide against the Tutsis in 1994.

Onesphore Nzabonimpa in charge of economic plan in Muhanga district said that setting up the doubled houses capable of hosting four separate families is a significant input in enhancing livelihoods of locals and therefore attracting more investors in housing sector.

The fact that the surface upon which the houses are built is relatively small unveils the spirit of effective soil management.

The Governor of the South Province Alphonse Munyantwali who was present during the inaugural event of these houses outlined the willingness of Rwandan government in providing citizens with adequate living houses.

He however called for combined efforts between stakeholders(beneficiaries and authorities), as to maintain these infrastructures safe, lasting and profitable.

The area comprises of an economic zone, residence facilities with a wide area reserved for extended infrastructures to benefit locals.
