DRC: 60 Passengers perish in a railway accident

60 persons perished in a railway accident in Katanga Province while it was full of commodities and passengers, local officials affirmed.

The accident was due to the over speed of the railway that intended to cross the Katongola bridge in the neighborhood of the South od Katanga city, DRC.

The railway had over 100 passengers including which were traders from the region, said the Police officer in Katongola called Jean Ngoy Mozadi.

The rail way was coming from the Kamina heading to Katanga, one of the world’s richest areas in mineral reserves.

Local officials said that the number of the victims is likely to increase as more people have been seriously injured and the railway was seriously damaged.
