Burundian refugees apologize to Rwandan Gvt

After Rwandan government decided to start relocating the Burundian refugees in a third country as to avoid unnecessary diplomatic tensions with its neighbor, Burundians who fled to Rwanda and camped in Mahama refugees camp urge for apology so that they can remain in Rwanda, a place they find more secured.

They say that Rwanda is a safe place to flee in and therefore should remain there until political situation in their mother land calms down.

Rwanda has been accused by the UN based experts to train militia that are aiming at attacking ruling regime in Burundi.

Few weeks later, the USA also accused Rwanda to prepare fighters against Burundi. Consequently th Rwandan government decided to find out, with its partners, where the Burundians can be relocated so to avoid such allegations.

At the side of the refugees, fear and discomfort arose after hearing that such a decision has been taken.

The leader of the Mahama refugee camp residents Pastor Jean Bosco Kwibishatse said that they are well prepared to execute any decision taken on their behalf but wish to remain in Rwanda where they feel safer than in the rest of the region.

For him, Tanzania can’t be a peaceful home for Burundian refugees as the so-called Imbonerakure are acting in the Tanzanian territory.

In Uganda and Kenya there are persisting insecurity, he said.

Therefore he calls the Rwandan government to revise its decision and remove its decision to relocate them at the third country where they can’t be safe as refugees.
