17 integrity keepers will be rewarded on November, 06, 2015

Those selected people among 6000 others across Rwanda will be decorated on November, 06, 2015 as the ones who significantly have shown the courage and love to save the lives of Tutsis who were hunted down during the Genocide in 1994.

Bishop Nzakamwita, Damas Gisimba and Father Rugirangoga

The Unit Club Intwararumuri conducted the selection in close partnership with the National Commission of Unity and Reconciliation.

The aim is to recognize and reward their heroism to have upheld the human values of mutual helpfulness among Rwandans.

The selection was based on the witness from their neighbors who testify on their behalf that they behaved in a way that saved people’s lives.

The Deputy Manager of Unity Club, Dr Monique Nsanzabaganwa said that the initiative of rewarding the integrity keepers started in 2010.

She said that this year’s program will fully involve government bodies as to make it more inclusive.

The Chairperson of the National Unity and Reconciliation Commission Bishop Emmanuel Rucyahana, highlighted the importance of decorating the integrity keepers as to showcase to the rest of Rwandans their heroic deeds and therefore imitate them.

For him, among the evildoers, there are few who are well hearted and willing to make difference in the period of darkness.

For the matter of clarification, the ones to reward are part of others but those ones were at first selected due to the testimonies provided by their neighbors at the cell level.

However there is no former politician among the 17 selected ones.

They will be rewarded with a burning light aimed at enlightening the youth and the rest of Rwandans as to symbolize the heartfelt deeds and integrity that characterized the integrity keepers.
