Roads facilitate communication and development. People from Ndera sector, Gasabo district are happy for the new road which is being constructed in the neighborhood. However they complain that the construction was undertaken without notification.

It was on Thursday morning of the last week people woke up at hearing noisy sounds of caterpillars constructing roads in the neighborhoods.

One of the elder men in the village told Umuseke.rw that they have not been alerted about the construction of this road.

“It is good to have a road for our development. But they didn’t notified people and machines have destroyed what we have cultivated. We don’t know if they will pay us back what we lost,” he said .

At the construction of this road, bananas, grasses of the livestock and corn plantations  have been seriously  destroyed.

Sorghum plantations damaged.

Inhabitants say that notification is  important for them so reap something form what they sowed.

The leader of the village, Habimana says that they have been notified before but they denied doing what their leaders asked them to do.  But the inhabitants state something  different.

Alphonse Kayitankore ,in charge of social affairs in Karuzingi cell told Umuseke.rw that the inhabitants were compensated, but as he acknowledges, people were not communicated about the starting date of the construction  works in order  to get  prepared earlier.

Dispute the fact few knew  about it, but at the first  sight  one  might  realize that losses are huge  for inhabitants who were not aware of the works.

One of the older men from the sector said that’ the leader of village must provide adequate  information to the inhabitants especially for the works that significantly impact on people’s welfare as such’.
