Last night the Queen’s baton has arrived at Kigali International Airport. This Baton is meant to cross specific areas  of Rwanda. Rwanda is the 29th countries in Africa to host the Queen’s Baton.

The Baton passes in all 71 Commonwealth countries before it goes to Scotland in Glasgow where Olympic games  of all Commonwealth members states will take place in July, 2014.

The Olympic Committee Chief Bayingana Robert welcomed the Baton for its first time to arrive in Rwanda since its entrance in the Commonwealth family.

This Baton is always accompanied with a message from the Queen of England, a message reserved to the nation that hosts the Baton.

Thursday the baton will be brought to Musanze from where it will be brought back to Kigali before it goes to Nyanza, at the Rukari historical museum, a museum known to host the Rwanda historical heritage.

It is historically known that the King Mutara Rudahigwa has a kingly house located at Rukari in Nyanza, South Province.

After Nyanza the baton will be brought to Kigali Genocide memorial center from where it will be brought to Kimisagara youth center.

Friday, the baton will be officially shown to the public after friendly games between Kiyovu and Rayon sport clubs. Other games of basketball and volleyball.

The Baton arrives in Rwanda from Uganda. It leave Rwanda this week end and goes in Tanzania

In the Olympic games to take place this July, Rwanda will be represented by different teams from different games such as swimming, Judo, and Marathon among others.
