The population of both Kicukiro and Kabeza claim to be lauded of the presence of a newly constructed road which links the two sectors of Niboye and Kanombe. They inform that this new road will enable them to communicate exchange and therefore improve their lives.
The presence of the road will reinforce trading activities, ease transport and mutual helpfulness between locals from both areas, namely Niboye and Kanombe.
Road users express that the appreciation on the presence of the road that saves them from moody situation that the road was involved in during the rainy seasons.
Umutoniwase Pascaline who is a road cleaner said: “Today we can leave home physically smart and just walk around without any problem of getting dirty.”
She was seemingly proud of the state of the road as a road cleaner that performs her work more easily today than before.
Not only did this road reduce the transport related challenges, but it also has created and increased the employment opportunities thus cycling, Moto biking, and even bus transportation.
Mbonimana Gilbert, a motorcyclist who uses this road, says: “This road eased the transportation from Kabeza to St Joseph school as before we had to contour to Giporoso coming from Kicukiro to Kabeza, but now we just go straight.”
This goes together with the increase of the passengers and therefore we earn more today than before, he added.
Engineer KAMANZI Assiel, the infrastructure officer in Niboye Sector said: “One of the reasons for constructing this road was to strengthen communication between the two sectors. The second reason is that this asphalt road helps in increasing its cleanliness as this is part of the government policies in the urbanization process.”
He stressed that the side of Kabeza in Kanombe Sector where a market is located needed such clean and big road to facilitate trade and communication.
Buses from a given company pass in the area to carry passengers from neighboring areas and others from Kicukiro Sonatubes towards Giporoso.
Eng Kamanzi revealed that one of the importances of that road is to reduce the traffic jam that usually challenges road users between Niboye and Kanombe.
Cleaner and bigger roads are part of tools that help in increasing social and economic development of every nation.
Rwandan government initiated the rehabilitation projects of its roads starting from the ones located in big and small cities as to ease the transport of both goods and people.
