They are from 10 African countries and have graduated in sciences including Mathematics. The 40 students are glad to be the first ones to graduate in this intercontinental scientific university.
The institute hosts international students who eagerly want to maximize their knowledge in different scientific disciplines such as math, physiques and chemistry.
The graduation event took place at AIMS main campus in Kigali, Kicukiro district.
Graduates were told that mathematics is a milestone in setting up political lines in different areas of any nation’s life.
This issue compels African nations to set up such universities in order to promote maths and other mathematical sciences.
The Chief economist in the National Bank Dr Kigabo Thomas who was the guest of honor in the ceremony said that an institution like AIMS will provide Rwanda with more mathematicians who will play a decisive role in promoting social and economic development of Rwanda.
Prof. Barry Green who is the rector of the university urged the graduates to help others to learn more mathematics and be the solution to different issues that Rwanda and Africa at large are facing.
The CEO of the AIMS Mr. Thierry Zomahoun reminded them that that learning mathematics at the Masters degree was privelege for them.
For that very purpose, he urged them to be solution makers. Their learning goes along with civil responsibilities, he told them.
Vestine Mukandayisenga who spoke on behalf of the students said that learning mathematics is a package that anyone can use to think faster and smarter.
Among 44 graduates, 40 per cent of them are female.
